| BPDA Seattle chapter member Dr. Paul Jackson of Boeing PhantomWorks does face-to-face, real-time presentation on latest RFID research to fellow "physical world" BPDA Seattle Chapter members ...from his hotel room in Palmdale, CA.... hundreds of miles away with webcam, headset and free and downloadable Marratech Pro client software . Other members logged in and participated from as far away as Detroit and Chicago. The Marratech Work Environment allowed him to "be there" and be "virtually present" with toll-free, face-to-face video and voice-over IP (VVOIP) real-time discussion, doing his R&D presentation...without him having to leave the comfort of his hotel room chair. E-Meeting participants met in New World Communications' private virtual e-meeting and demonstration room using licensed E-Meeting Portal software. | ||||||||||||||

| A Windows laptop configured with Marratech Pro client software, a special echo-cancelling conferencing mic, amplifed speakers and an LCD projector were all that was needed to create a combined "physical world/virtual world" global meeting. There wasn't even hard-wired Internet access in Safeco's Jackson Street Center's community meeting room, so we ended up "sniffing out" and using Wi-Fi from a T-Mobile Hot Spot from the Starbucks coffee house about 300 meters away! | ||||||||||||||
| A remote meeting participant posed a question to Dr. Jackson via a cellular phone call to echo-cancelling microphone. The system can also dial out and bring in phone clients right into the session using the Marratech systems' special SIP Telephony option. | ||||||||||||||

| Guest visitor and former BDPA LA Chapter President Angela White-Parker dropped in after attending a Seattle conference for IT professionals earlier in the day. Here she poses a global question to Dr. Jackson about the current state-of-affairs with RFID implementation sitting about 20 feet away from the special echo-cancelling conferencing mic.
Dr. Jackson heard the question clearly, even at that far away from the mic and responded right back. Everyone greatly appreciated the diligent "can-do" attitude and fine technical support work of BDPA member Reginald Gillins for "making the connection happen"...on many, many levels. |

| Seattle Chapter BPDA President Roxanne Buchanan and other members look approvingly on at the history being made at this January 28th, 2005 break-through meeting/e-meeting event....Now many minds are in "background" processing mode thinking about ways this system can be used to move BPDA business forward on a national scale. ***** |
