New Marratech 6.0 Client and Marratech Manager 3.3 E-Meeting Portal Server are out... which have the following new features:
* Support for both h.261 and h.264 video codecs : This is an excellent strategy in a changing marketplace now moving to the more powerful and processor-intensive h.264 codec, but also accommodating institutions supporting their current computer plaforms and current operating systems with the less processor-intensive h.261 video codec. Currently Windows users will be to first to take advantage of h.264 on their existing CPUs, but the Mac users will also be able to take advantage of this in conjunction with Apple's release of new and faster Pentium-based Macs running Tiger. In the meantime, continued use of h.261 during cross-platform communications sessions works great for everyone.
* Toggle to full-screen video: Now you can toggle the dominant participant window to full-screen video and this really looks great with h.264 video. An "insider" note: Mac users will have to wait a bit for h.264 until Apple comes on-line with supporting h.264 with the Apple Developer Community of which Marratech is an active member but you can still toggle h.261 to full-screen and run Marratech 6 on current CPU running Mac OSX 10.3.9 and Java 1.4 in the meantime via a simple "work-around" that references Java 1.4 instead Java 1.5 written for Tiger. This feature is great if you have Marratech running on a laptop at the end of a boardroom table and people need to see the speaker better without having to use an LCD projector. You can toggle back to the regular "Flexible" display layout if the focus is on whiteboard communications activity.
* More moderation power: Marratech has been listening to us about the need for more moderation control and though we expect to see even more changes in future software updates, the following moderation permissions provide for more control: Moderator [M] This provides most communications power to lock the room, kick-users, and change the status of participants. Presenter [P] mode allows a participant to present with audio and video and have access to using the whiteboard tools. Student [S] allows the student to use the whiteboard pointer, send audio video and audio and participate in public chat, and Listener [L] designed for one-to-many presentations is a total lock-down where a participant with this status can only see and listen to what is going on. Even more developments in the moderation area...more options and more control are coming in the future.
* Plus the power "instant virtual transportation" and "virtual architectural capabilities and possibilities: You'll really start to understand the phenomenal powerful of the Marratech System once you realize that free and downloadable Marratech Client software is like having an unlimited supply of "instant virtual transport vehicles" that can instantly and virtually "get you there" and "get you back" to meetings in a Marratech Manager-based permissions-based and multi-tiered E-meeting portal (Web server software)...that is like a virtual building that has a phenomenally low-cost "omni" busisness presence...in every city of the world. Once you realize this.... and experience this...the epiphanies will happen with you...just like they happened with us.....the implications of this... are nothing less than phenomenal when compared and contrasted with costly, time consuming, and highly unproductive physical world travel to costly and multiple business locations now. The only thing that stands in the way now...is just getting people to experience this and learn for themselves how that and their institutions can use this capability for phenomenal and unique strategic advantage. See our January '06 edition of The New World Communicator for more info...or better yet...you need to experience it yourself! |
