| Over many years, Art Johnson has been personally involved in the use of technology to develop community-based resources. Here the context was working as an educator and facilitator with at-risk Seattle Central Area urban youth at the Seattle Vocational Institute, re-entering the educational system to get their GED.
Art taught them media literacy and computer applications and helped develop version 1 of their website. After some initial challenges, the pedagogy finally "hit the magic button" when we encouraged youth to write, produce their on spoken word poetry and hip-hop music... start actively to mediating their own futures in our now 21st world.
After that, and with all the learning "flow" going on, we as co-instructors just had to get out of the way.
These experiences have also inspired Art to "deliver the mission-critical learning a new world needs... which the mission of The New World Learning Institute & Conference Center our own minority and woman-owned virtual institution of "higher learning."
